Fiore, Leveille All-Star Jerseys To Raise Funds For Special Olympics
In conjunction with the MLL All-Star Game, which was held on July 17th in Denver, Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, and New Balance are offering 36 autographed, limited-edition Chinese Dragon themed jerseys that were worn by the MLL All-Stars during the game. Each player autographed his jersey following the conclusion of the game. All jerseys are being auctioned online with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Special Olympics. China was home to the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games which were held in Shanghai last October. (more)

UMass Alums Leveille & Fiore Impress In MLL All-Star Game

UMass alum Kevin Leveille ('03) got the better of former Minuteman teammate Chris Fiore ('03) on Thursday night as Leveille's Western Conference squad defeated Fiore's East squad, 31-15, in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game at Invesco Field at Mile High. Leveille got the West off to the quick lead, assisting on the game's first goal and scoring the second to give the jumpstart all the way to the team's All-Star game record 31 points. In total, he finished tied for the most points in the game with seven on three goals and four assists. Fiore was held scoreless, but did impress in the fastest shot competition at halftime, firing a pair of bullets that hit 106 and 105 miles per hour, respectively. (more)

Fiore and Leveille Named To Major League Lacrosse Game

UMass lacrosse alums Chris Fiore and Kevin Leveille have been selected to play in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game which takes place July 17 in Denver. Fiore, who plays for the Long Island Lizards has 15 goals. Leville, of the Chicago Machine, will play in his fourth all-star game and is second in the MLL in goals with 23. (more)

UMass Connections Off To Fast Start In Major League Lacrosse

Minutemen lacrosse alums continue to make UMass proud as 16 former players, coaches, and staff have enjoyed tremendous success halfway through this, Major League Lacrosse's eighth season. In total, 12 players, two Assistant Coaches, a General Manager and league executive are making their mark on eight of the 10 MLL teams. The three best records (Denver, Rochester, and Long Island) all include UMass alums who are making significant impacts in hopes of leading their teams to an MLL championship.

Four Minutemen Lacrosse Players Named To All-ECAC Academic Team

UMass had four players named to the All-ECAC Academic Team for men's lacrosse in 2008. Junior attacker Tim Balise, who was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American was the only player with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the league. Balise was joined by sophomore midfielder Bobby Hayes, senior defenseman Sean Krygier and junior defenseman Brennan Mack.

McGuirk Stadium Lighting Installation & Garber Field Renovation Underway

The two big construction projects for the UMass athletic department this summer are now underway. The permanent lighting system at McGuirk Stadium has starting its installation as the digging and drilling has begun at the stadium. Over at Garber Field, the old bleachers and press box have been removed leading to the start of the construction of the new stands and press box.

MORE HEADLINES
